Avoid Eye Injuries during New Years celebrations
- Posted on: Jul 30 2019
The holidays mean time with family and friends, lots of good food, the season of giving, and lots of parties. The final holiday we celebrate is New Years and we are now a few short days away. The Taustine Eye Center would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe New Years!
But, before you begin your celebration, please pay close attention. There are plenty of dangers associated with New Year’s celebrations. However, there is one area many of you might not be considering. The opening of champagne bottles can be extremely dangerous. In fact, it can cause serious eye injuries (even VISION LOSS). But, those eye injuries can be prevented if you just follow some simple steps. Our own Dr. Taustine explains, “The most important thing to remember is how much pressure that cork flies off with. Personally I always keep a stout towel over the top held firmly in place as I loosen the wiring and then take off the cork.”
Now please watch the video below as Dr. Monica L. Monica shares champagne cork removal safety tips from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Please watch the video and follow the safety tips, so that we can all have a safe and happy New Year!
