How to reduce eye strain at the work place

Do you work long hours in front of a computer screen? Or maybe do a lot of reading during the work day? Those who spend long hours reading tiny print or working at a computer might experience some eye discomfort. Plus, you might also get headaches. Let’s look at some tips courtesy of the American Academy of Ophthalmology to help avoid workplace dry eye and eye strain: 
1). Stay at arm’s length from your computer screen: The eyes actually have to work harder to see close up than far away. 
2). Take care of glare: try a matte filter for your screen.
3). Give your eyes a break: eye strain occurs after long, continuous periods of reading so take a break. Every 20 minutes look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Looking into the distance allows your eyes to relax. Or take a few minutes to walk down the hall and back.
4). Lighten up: When your screen is much brighter than your surroundings, your eyes have to work harder to see. Adjusting the lighting around you can reduce eye strain. Also, try increasing the contrast on your monitor.
